"The Shadow" is taken over Ville Vau in November.

In November, Ville Vau unfolds Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale "The Shadow" through selected stories, workshops, and creative activities in the studio. We welcome the autumn darkness and mark the 150th anniversary of H.C. Andersen’s death.

In the Studio, you can make your own lantern and let the shadows stretch as you light it. And if you think the shadows are going a little too far, you can always turn off the light — that way, we’ll make sure they don’t wander off. You can also step into the stage darkness and let the beam of light catch your shadow. The shadow follows your every move — at least in the beginning.

Ville Vau is open to all children accompanied by an adult. Everyone can dress up in fantastic costumes and transform into whatever they wish. You can play, perform theatre, or open your own hair salon within the scenography inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tales — from life in the countryside to the king’s castle and the magical land beyond.

Children and adults are welcome in Ville Vau. Each adult may bring a maximum of four children at a time.

Be aware that during weekends and school holidays, there may be a short waiting time to enter Ville Vau.

The studio

In Ville Vau’s studio, children and adults alike can let their creativity unfold.

In the Studio, you can cut, glue, and let your imagination run free, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s creative universe — or immerse yourself at the easel and let your brush dance across the paper.

On weekends and during school holidays, the Studio is open with a variety of materials freely available, so you can explore your ideas at your own pace.
